But the products of the GM-Daewoo alliance are the “wrong” Korean cars, the children of a promising union of Western management and Eastern mentality. What will new Nubira be like? It is not long to wait for the answer, literally till summer.

If Matiz and Kalos have got its look from famous Georgetto Giugiaro and ItalDesign employees, the Nubira is a product of imagination of Pininfarina Turin atelier. They gave to the middle-size sedan the appearance…. of a typical Korean car, it is impossible to say differently. Its appearance has strong “oval” mood, any radicalism and craving for large-scale revolutions is absent. But the desire of customers to emphasize the new logo of the company is clearly traced – by specially created lines on the hood, the look itself falls on the logo, located above the grille. In sparing of flattery, even the developers don’t see the point to describe the appearance of the new car, but practical attention is paid to the design and structure of the bumper, able to withstand a collision without damage at speeds up to 8 km/h.
Inside, “Nubira” also does not betray the traditions adopted in the national automobile industry, remaining a modest, but comfortable car. “Walnut molding” horizontally divides the front panel into two parts: a dark gray top and a lighter bottom. The center console brings a touch of sportiness to the interior thanks to its “metallic” design. It also gives shelter to the “two-speaker” entertainment system and “temperature” displays. Without supporting its statement with figures, the creators bravely say that the new “Nubira” will be one of the most spacious cars in the class, as after the reconstruction almost all its parameters have increased.
Under the hood of Daewoo Nubira can be one of two gasoline four-cylinder engines: 1.6 liter 109-horsepower, working with a five-speed “manual”, or 1.8 liter 122-horsepower, equipped with a four-band automatic transmission. Both engines have four valves per cylinder and two overhead camshafts, consuming 7.1 and 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle.
The passive safety system of the new car is based on the use of high-strength steels, as well as a standard set of modern car belts with pretensioners, four airbags and “child” Isofix mountings. Thanks to large investments, the company was able to raise the active safety to a high level: four-channel ABS from Bosch works together with disc brakes on all wheels, and electronic traction control will not let you miss a “slippery” curve.
