How to keep car mats clean even in wet weather

Some would say: the car mat is the face of the owner. Such a statement seems extremely accurate. But those, who own a car in our latitudes, are well aware of how difficult it is to keep mats clean in the off-season and winter. Dust, dirt, snow, water – the main opponents of shiny clean. Washing your mats regularly when it comes to maintaining cleanliness is enough for a few times at most.

There are three main ways to protect the mat from dirt and water in the off-season. The first “traditional” way is regular cleaning, shaking out and washing the mats. As noted, such a solution lasts for two, at most three trips. In other words, with daily use of the car, this approach can be extremely tedious, time-consuming. The second method is the package. As strange as it may sound, you can try to protect the mat with a bag. Constantly so will not drive, but the package can be used when the window is really slushy and gloomy.

The third way is to use a special composition of available means. To prepare a portion of such a solution for one rubber mat will need materials for about 50-70 rubles. It is necessary to prepare: a brush, a small amount of distilled water, a clean container (you can cut off half of a plastic liter bottle) and finally the main ingredient – glycerin. The latter is usually sold in pharmacies in bubbles of 25-100 grams.

In a clean container mix distilled water and glycerin at a ratio of 1 part water to 6 parts glycerin. The solution is thoroughly mixed with a brush stick, and then left to rest for about 10-15 minutes. When the set time is up, we dip the brush in the liquid and apply it in an even layer to the top of the mat. When the composition is applied, the mat should be allowed to dry for another 20 minutes. Such protection from the buildup of dirt is enough for about one week, subject to daily travel.
